(Walks away)
Situation Five
(At the Big Market Square, Ojanla in Baba's shop. Baba and Sidi are manning a particular big spot of the center shop. It's the shop, villagers/buyers will first identify with when coming from the T-lawn of Olajuwon Village. The varieties of clothing materials are being brought outside the shop to be well arranged, to delight and entice every interested passerby. They (Sidi and Baba) are soon through with the arrangement. Baba motions to Sidi, who is obviously perplexed about where to display the last pair of clothing material on her hand, to bring the last set. She hands it over. And both upon satisfied with their arrangement, greet each other with a sigh of relief and soon retire to the sofa, greet, call and persuade customers to buy from them.
Some hours later (I.e passage of time), when Baba has left the care of the shop to Sidi, a. hunky popular chief and land owner with a husky voice, Kwanachi comes to Ojanla. He is smiling his ways through the reciprocative gestures of greetings and waving of hands at people in the market who acknowledged his presence. He soon gets to a shop and stops to watch the lady calling people to buy from Baba Shop. He looks at her from afar with inexplicable admiration.)
Kwanachi: (To himself) who could this damsel be? (Walks to a close by yam seller) Good day, mister man. How is your business going?
Yam seller: (Smiles) Fine fine, Chief Kwanachi.
Kwanachi: (Clears throat) That's good (turning his back to leave).
Yam seller: (Astonished) Wait Chief. This that you stop by my shop today. Hope everything his fine with you.
Kwanachi: (Laughs softly) Ofcourse.
Yam seller: Okay (smiles) then, you should please take a look at my yams too and buy from me today.
Kwanachi: (Inspects his yams and nods) Oh yes, I will buy.
Yam seller: Thank you. So how many tubers should I bring?
Kwanachi: Mind doing me a favour first (looks towards Baba shop)
Yam seller: Sure
Kwanachi: Who is that girl in Baba Shop?
Yam seller: (Smiiles) is that all the favour you want?
Kwanachi: (Puzzled) Oh... yes
Yam seller: And if I tell you her name, you will buy my yams afterwards?
Kwanachi: Yes, I will buy.
Yam seller: (Looks towards Baba Shop) I like her too (Smiles). (Faces Kwanachi) She is the only eyes of Baba. And her name is Sidikatu. But people use to call her Sidi.
Kwanachi: Thank you (turning over)
Yam seller: (Perplex by Kwanachi moves) So, how many tubers you need?
Kwanachi: Mr Man, don't worry, I will be back to buy from you (Sets off to Baba Shop).
Yam seller: (Murmurs over Kwanachi's attitude) It will be better for you to come and buy from me o. Or else, I will expose your little secret to everyone. (Soliloquies) Wait o, which secret are we talking about here? But e go pain me sha, if he no come buy for me later later.
(Kwanachi already standing in front of Baba Shop. )
Sidi: I am coming customer sir (stands up to attend to him). Yes sir, which one do you want to buy from our clothing materials.
Kwanachi: Do you have the latest Ankara?
Sidi: Which one is that sir (showing him all the types in the shop).
Kwanachi: (Smiles) young lady, don't bother yourself, okay! You don't have my type.
Sidi: (Unhappy) And you won't try to pick from these ones? (Points at them).
Kwanachi: It's okay, young lady. I'll come around next week specifically to buy cloths from your shop. Besides, Baba is my man.
Sidi: (Missed smiles) Oh, okay. That will be good. I will be expecting you, then.
Kwanachi: That's very generous of you... I'm Kwanachi by the way. What's your name?
Sidi: (Screams) Oh my god! Are you Chief Kwanachi?
Kwanachi: (Smiles) Ofcourse yes, my lady.
Sidi: I'm Sidikatu, but (winks) you can call me Sidi.
Kwanachi: (Looks her in the eyes and smiles) Alright Sidi.
Sidi: (Twists her lips and smiles) Yes. Nice knowing you. Where do you stay?
Kwanachi: Ile Tuntun in your neighbouring village, Ayiniye. Ask anybody you see around and you will not lost.
Sidi: Maybe I will check on you later on. I guess you know Baba' house.
Kwanachi: Yes Yes.
Sidi: I stay there. You can check on me in the evening times of any day except Tuesdays.
Kwanachi: That's lovely. That's really lovely.
Sidi: Okay, see you next week buying all (pointing to some materials) .
Kwanachi: Alright. Good bye
Sidi: Bye
(Watches Kwanachi walking away into the crowds of passersby and smiles)
Sidi: (To herself) Oh my God! I sense today is really really awesome. Everyone is happy. Baba accepted I can pass the night with my man. Many men came to buy from me.(Examines her attire from up to down) And of course many men admired my look too. Oh, this is really great. I can't wait to get to Niyi and balance him up. And this man, Kwanachi!! (Place her right hand index finger between her teeth) Hmmm (Turns back and starts packing the clothing materials inside to close for the day).
Situation Six:
(Passage of time. At Kwanachi's Mansion in Ita-Tuntun, Ayiniye Village. Chief Kwanachi already seated on a deck chair and soon swaps to sun lounger. Soon the cloud's deafening rumbles and the eventual rain that now falls).
Kwanachi: (Shouts) Ladi, young Ladimeji
Ladi: (Answers from inside) Sir, I'm coming. (Bangs door and appears on a slightly wet cloth) Yes sir, yes sir (bows).
Kwanachi: I suppose you have taken care of my things outside before the rain?
Ladi: Certainly sir.
Kwanchi: (Smiles) That's good. You may leave.
Ladi: Thank you sir. (Soon returns to the dark. And soon comes back with a damsel whose hair is dripping and sandals, squelshing as she follows him to where Kwanachi sits.) Sir!
Kwanachi: (Who is obviously dozing off on the sun lounger he lies on, opens his eyes) Yes, Yes Dimeji.
Ladi: (Bows) This young lady comes to see you, sir.
Kwanachi: (Swifly stands to see the lady) Oh my God! (Yawns and stretches his arms) It's a lie! (Astonished) Is that you?
Sidi: (Smiles shyly) Good evening sir.
Ladi: (Sighs) Oga, so you know her?
Kwanachi: (Faces Ladi) ehn ehn, young man, go and prepare my guest a new lady's wear, abeg and stop questioning me.
Sidi: (Smiles coyly) Thank you, Chief.
Kwanachi: (Faces Sidi and smiles) I am really happy to see you today after so many weeks of promises and my unrelenting visits to your father's house.
Sidi: I am happy too.
Kwanachi: My boy will soon be here with a new set of wears for you. (Clears throat) I want to believe you won't be leaving here tonight?
Sidi: (Looks around, twists her lips while she glances at Kwanachi and smiles) Let's just wait and see.
Kwanachi: Alright. (Shouts towards the direction Ladi disappears) Dimeji, Ladimeji. Ola...d... (Ladi appears with new lady's wear and hands it over to Sidi) Good. See her to the guest bathroom wear she will shower and put on her new wears. (Faces Sidi) you can dry your cloth in the bathroom. (Sidi nods to show understanding and approval of Kwanachi's suggestion)
Ladi: (Bows) follow me, ma.
(Kwanachi watches her as she walks away with Ladimeji. He paces about and retires to his deck chair, resting his hands on resting arms of the chair)
Kwanachi: If this girl can say 'Yes' to my advances tonight, my deceased wife will be proud of me. (Smiles to himself, as he looks expectantly to the break of his silent surroundings.
Sidi returns alone on the new wears and sashays towards the already transfixed Kwanachi by her appearance. He clears his throat) Where is my boy, La...
Sidi: (Cuts in) Ladi is fine, Chief. (Smiles) I told him to go and enjoy himself that I can handle myself in Chief's arms. (The both smile)
Kwanachi: (Puzzled) You told him that?
Sidi: Of course I did. (Yawns) Chief, it will be kind of you to lead me to where I will be passing my night. Traveling all the way from Olajuwon to Ayiniye Village is tiresome.
Kwanachi: That's right. Follow me, my Princess (Kwanachi leads her to his room).
Sidi: I guess, this is your room?
Kwanachi: (Smiles shyly) of course, my lady... (Stammers) I think you deserve a masterly treat in my...
Sidi: (Halts Kwanachi by touching his lips with her right index finger) Enough of the story. (Yawns, looks him in the eyes and smiles). I will be expecting you in the room. (Winks and walks away).
Kwanachi: (Smiles) This girl!
(Aside) Am I dreaming? Sidi going to my bed room! I've waited patiently for this golden day.
Sidi: (Shouts from inside the room) I can't sleep alone here, Chief.
Kwanachi: (Speaks to the direction of the room) I'm coming Sidikatu. (Looks up and soliloquize) Thank you, this night rain!
(Enters the room and locks the door).
