Hi, welcome on board to
the pilot edition of “Artiste’s Corner” with the GDG boss himself, Abdulhafeez
T. Oyewole. On this edition, I have with me a crooner and the C.E.O of Kruuz
Nation, Ade-Mighty. You will know what the company stands for as we cruise on.
Meanwhile, Ade Mighty
is the brain behind songs such as “Low Key”, and his latest featured
track, “No Lele”. On Artiste’s Corner, he will be briefing about is musical
career, the Nigerian music industry and most importantly the Kruuz Nation’s
activities under his watch.
Excerpts:
GDG:-
Who is Ade Mighty?
Ade
Mighty:- Wow, Mr. GDG, I just wanna say thank you for this
grace. About Ade Mighty; I don’t have much to say but my real name is Dada
Samuel Adeniyi, popular known as Ade Mighty, a graduate of the Department of
Mass Communication and who loves music.
GDG:-
What inspired you to becoming a singer/musician?
Ade
Mighty:- What brought the inspiration was that I just found
myself loving tunes, anything that has to do with music and anything that has
to do with sounds. To my surprise, I love different songs to the extent that I
have different tribal songs on my phone. And back then in 2010, I later got to realize
that since I love music, why not I gave it a shot. That was when I first
released my first track Majo Mayo featuring IBY and A-plus. It was a bomb seriously
and it was where it started from.
GDG:-
There’s a fabulous project or perhaps company you are just cooking up, that is
Kruuz Nation; what’s the wisdom behind it?
Ade
Mighty:- Wow, Kruuz Nation has been a project that has been
on right from 2012, though it was just an abstract project. But thank God in
2014, it’s now becoming a reality.
Kruuz Nation is not all
about music, it is all encompassing in terms of entertainment. Kruuz Nation
involves photography, video, shooting, event planning and management, and
record label.
GDG:-
Is there any artist you are or better still Kruuz Nation is promoting
currently?
Ade
Mighty: Yeah, I have two artists under the label, Kruuz
Nation and they are both lovely singers. When you hear their voice, oh my goodness,
you will know that they are materials.
GDG:-
What does Kruuz Nation sets to offer, having become a record label on its own?
Ade
Mighty:- In the music industry, Kruuz Nation is set to lay a
legacy. Yeah, we don’t just sing to impact knowledge, we sing to send messages
to our fans out there to know that yes, we love what we do best and we keep
encouraging people out there to keep doing what they know how to do best.
GDG:-
Now, your fans, no doubt, are anticipating Ololufemi, which I have sampled and
it was awesome to the ears. And I think it’s a plus to you guys.
Ade
Mighty:- Thank you (smiles)
GDG:-
So, apart from Ololufemi, what other tracks are you guys still cooking up for
your fans and music lovers?
Ade
Mighty:- Yeah, we are cooking on a track called “Lokeloke”. It’ll
be a love song too but will be a kind of story-like song. Though, it’s L.J, that
is Leonard James, that brought the concept and I was like ‘what’s up with this
song?’ and he said, it’s a real life story, (but he did not tell me who the
story is all about) and he wanted us to do something on it. So, presently, we
are working on that track, to be titled “Lokeloke”.
GDG:-
Will you be featuring steppers or chorographers that would drop new dancing
craze for music lovers’ appraisal or what? Because going by your proposed
titled for the track “Lokeloke”, I begin to think in the direction of an
innovative song with its dance.
Ade
Mighty:- No, it will be a very cool song. It will be more or
less like a blues but whose message will be very powerful.
GDG:-
Now, let’s talk about your most anticipated track: “Ololufemi” which will soon
be out. What’s an inspiration for the track?
Ade
Mighty:- Since the inception of Kruuz Nation, I was feeling
that we need to do something extra ordinary, do something that would not only
catch people physically but catch them emotionally.
That was how the idea of Ololufemi came about and the whole stuff was brought about by Idowu, Hiidee. He was not under my label then, it was L.J who was opportune to meet Idowu and played some sample beats for him and was like “wow, I love this beat, I can do something on it, something marvelous”. L.J now told me about him and I told L.J that “okay, you are free, give him a shot, give him the beat and let’s see what he has to offer”. But fortunately, Hiidee came up with this lovely chorus and seriously, when I heard the chorus, I was like “wow, this is what we have been looking for”. As in, the Yoruba flavour and everything combine in that song. It’s awesome and kudos to Hiidee and L.J, they did a marvelous job there.

GDG:-
What will be the likelihood central theme or message of ‘Ololufemi’ to Nigerian
entertainment fans when released?
Ade
Mighty:- Alright. Ololufemi’s message is all about true
love. It is trying to tell us that, when we are in love, we should love with
all our heart. When we are in love, we should give our all in all to that love.
Then, that you don’t have to cheat, you don’t have to backbite, you love with
all your heart and believe me, it pays to love with all your heart. That’s the
message behind the song.
GDG:-
How would you assess the Nigerian Music Industry?
Ade
Mighty:- The Nigerian Music Industry is growing fast. Seriously,
from my own point of view, if I am to rank the industry, I will rank it number
one, because guys out there are doing a good job. The likes of 2-face, 9ice,
Wizkid, Davido, Olamide etc. are doing a marvelous job out there.
GDG:-
With the dynamic nature of the Nigerian Music Industry that you have equally
agreed to and buttressed, where will you fit Kruuz Nation to in five years’
time? In other words, would it within this stipulated period of time, be able
to compete with other existing recording labels in the industry?
Ade
Mighty: Seriously, five years’ time is too ‘big’; let me
use the word big. As in, I see Kruuz Nation in two to three years’ time going
places. That’s just the truth. I see us having our own structure live in the
heart of Lagos. I see us doing a good job and people falling in love with us.
GDG:-
What are your advices for your fans and equally the Kruuz Nation fans out
there?
Ade
Mighty:- My advice to my fans or the Kruuz Nation fans is
that, they should keep on with the love, we won’t let them down.
GDG:-
Thank you for affording us your quality time, Phowokruuz Ade Mighty.
